- Are hunting licenses required? In-state and out-of-state.
Yes, whether you are in state or out of state hunting licenses are required for these types of hunts. You will need the upland bird endorsement/stamp. For out of state hunters you can purchase the banded bird license.
- Do you offer overnights?
Yes, we have a nice bunkhouse that sleeps up to 10, but 7 comfortably, in a communal great room with loft, cathedral ceiling, kitchenette, and two bathrooms. The cost of overnights with us is 100.00 per person, breakfast included. If you would like dinner included the cost is 25.00 per person. Or you can opt to utilized our kitchenette and cooking deck, or head into Gainesville or Lindsay to get something for dinner.
- Do you offer fields for training or sell birds?
No. Unfortunately, given our extremely low prices we can not offer our fields for any price lower than our packaged hunts. We also need every single one of our birds for the hunts we put on, so we can not offer birds to go.
- Can I bring my own dog(s)?
Of course! You are welcome to use your own dog(s) solo, or along side our guide’s dogs. Please note, all of our hunts are guided. The guide is there to make sure your hunt is as successful as possible. So there is a lot of value in getting your dog(s) into as many birds as you can with the guide’s help. They will also process your harvested birds after your hunt while you relax.
- What size shot do you recommend?
7-7.5 shot is strongly advised. 6 shot is the very largest that is acceptable. 7’s are big enough to take pheasant down. The reason we ask this is dog safety, should a dog be accidentally shot it is much likelier to survive 7 shot.
- What do I need to bring?
Things you will need: shotgun, shells (7-7.5 shot), hunters orange to wear (hat and/or vest), a valid Texas hunting license. We take care of the rest.
- What time does my hunt start?
Morning hunts start shortly after 9:00am. Afternoon hunts start between 1:45-2:00pm. Please see when should I arrive next.
- What time should I arrive?
We ask morning guests to arrive between 8:30-9:00 am. We ask afternoon guests to arrive at 12:30 for lunch. Please do not arrive earlier, as these times are designed to still give you plenty of time to get ready for your hunt. Warning: Arriving earlier has caused impatient people impatience.
